Welcome, Joy!

Welcome, Joy!

I’m thrilled to introduce you to the newest Wismer, Joy Ann Rose ❤ We welcomed her on May 1st, 2021. Joy is happy, healthy, loves to eat (just like her mom!), and is a great little sleeper. She is living up to her name and bringing us more joy than we could have ever imagined. ⁣

I am loving this family of four life. Time just goes by so fast, and these three make every moment extra special. Motherhood has been the most wonderful journey. With that being said, having a baby and parenting a toddler PLUS running a business is no small task. (Shout out to all you amazing Moms out there!! You’re amazing 😍).

Nothing has changed my life more than becoming a mother. Like the flip of a switch, Richie was born and gone were the days of sleeping in, making my own schedule, and having free time. As I write this, I have a newborn baby asleep for a few more moments, a toddler running around the house, and am working full-time from home to run my small business.

I am frequently asked the question, “How do you do it all?” And the first thought that comes into my mind is, “...I don’t!”

There’s an ideal image that many young working women are confronted with: flawlessly managing a successful career while at the same time raising superstar children. Somehow, we are “supposed to” be able to fully dedicate ourselves to our children AND our careers, and to be effortlessly successful with both.

But if there’s one thing I’ve learned through motherhood, it’s that both having a baby and managing a business is MESSY! “Doing it all” is a myth. We only have so much to give each day. It’s about faith and trusting God, picking and choosing where our energy goes, asking for and accepting help, and doing the best we can each day.

I can’t imagine what managing motherhood and running a business would be like without my parents, in-laws, husband, family, neighbors, and friends. They hold me up, keep me going, and encourage me to have some chocolate when I need it ;)

As our family grows, I am beyond thankful for your orders and support. Our elves are still working away, putting together gifts with love and care. I am so grateful for the entire Scrumptious Secrets community — customers, artisan partners, friends — who support our work and help spread the word. Thank YOU!

What have you learned about the myth of “doing it all”? I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to send me an email anytime at jess@scrumptioussecrets.com.
